Daisy grew up in Chile, she was working in an electronic store in Lima Peru where she met her husband, Paul Powell in 1959, he would frequent the store because of her. They married on May 21, 1960. In 1963 they came to the United States and settled in Chicago. Daisy earned her United States citizenship and became bilingual learning English from watching T.V. In 1973 the family moved to Memphis, Tennessee. Daisy was very active in her Spanish speaking community going to homes to introduce herself and welcoming Spanish speaking neighbors to her church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro Montiel and Lilia Barahona de Montiel and her loving husband, Paul Powell.
Daisy leaves behind her two sons, Peter Powell and Paul Powell; her beloved grandsons who meant the world to her and referred to as her "GuaGuas", Parker and Paxton Powell; brother, Robinson Montiel; sister, Elizabeth Lausch.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 10 am. The family will receive friends and family prior to the service beginning at 9 am at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett, Tennessee 38133.
