On Monday, January 16th, Darryl Walter Rose, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 73. Darryl was born on July 3, 1949 - seemingly with a wrench in his hand, in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was confirmed on April 7, 1963, at Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville, MO. He graduated from Jackson High School in Jackson, MO in 1967. He graduated from United Electronics Institute, in Louisville, KY, in 1969 and worked servicing electronic equipment for over 40 years. Additionally, he was drafted by the Army and then subsequently went into the National Guard, for a total of 6 years.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Connie Lee Rose; a son, Brian Darryl Rose (Elizabeth) of Memphis, TN; a son, Michael Steven Rose (Krystin) of Denver, CO; grandchildren Dustin Brian Rose and Cody Logan Rose; and a host of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Ruth Rose and his sister Sherry Ruth Rose.
Darryls love for old cars took both him and his family throughout the United States. For 51 years Darryl and Connie enjoyed many hours of cruising and meeting friends. Darryl was an active member of the National Street Rod Association and the Shelby County Street Rodders, as well as many other car clubs throughout the years. Darryl started driving a car at the age of 9 by sitting on top of an old milk crate on his farm, he welded his first go-kart at the age of 11 and bought his first Corvette in 1969.
Darryl was known as a prankster, Mr. Fix-it and Jack-of-All-Trades and he was always willing to help those in need. He left a wake of laughter and smiles everywhere he went.
The family will receive friends for a celebration of life at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Saturday, January 21, 2023, from 2pm to 3pm, followed by a church service at 3pm.
