

Dartha “Dot” Butchen, 76 of Eads passed away April 18, 2011. Dot attended Elizabeth Elementary School and graduated from Friendship High School. Growing up she attended Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian Church and later Eastside and Colonial Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was currently a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and a member of Eastern Star Dot was retired from NBC (Sun Trust). She and her husband, Gene, were members of the Memphis Square Dancers Association and the Colonial Wheelers and Dealers. She was preceded in death by her parents W.P. and Gladys Lee Golden; brother Milton “Mutt” Golden and daughter-in-law, Darlene Butchen. Dot is survived by her husband, Gene Butchen; daughter Phyllis Lee (David) Johnson; son William Michael Butchen; brother Jeff (Joyce) Golden; sister-in-law Dorothy “Dork” Golden; grandchildren Amanda (Ben) Killebrew, Jessica Butchen and Brandon Johnson. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 20 from 5-8 pm and funeral services will be at 2 pm on Thursday, April 21 both at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on Germantown Rd. Memorials may be made to Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Colonial Cumberland Presbyterian Church or St. Paul United Methodist Church.
