David Leland Herring

David Leland Herring, born December 8, 1951, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, at the age of 73. David was the beloved son of the late David Albert Herring and Dorothy Marie Herring. He was preceded in death by his sister, Pamela Lee Herring.

David leaves behind his devoted son, Bradford Stephen Herring; his cherished grandchildren, Mallary Taylor Herring, Bradford Cade Herring, and Ryann Nikole Barton; and his adored great-grandchild, Elias Makai Jones. He is also survived by his loving sisters, Mary Kathryn Rybczyk and Jacqueline Anne Brignole; his brother, Patrick John Herring; his daughter-in-law, Stephanie Chism Herring; his granddaughter-in-law, Jessica Elizabeth Stricklin; his great-granddaughter-in-law, Elanore Snow Lott; and his brothers-in-law, John Patrick Brignole and Michael Francis Rybczyk.

Throughout his life, David worked hard in shipping and receiving, most notably with Yarbrough Cable and Versabar. He was a man who loved simple pleasures — fishing on a quiet morning, the sound of good rock and roll, a day or night spent watching football or basketball, an evening movie, or a round of golf with family and friends. He was an avid supporter of the Memphis Tigers and the Green Bay Packers, cheering them on with unwavering loyalty.

Above all, David cherished time with his family. His warmth, humor, and easygoing nature will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who loved him.

Services to celebrate David’s life will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on July 24, 2025. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m.

A memorial visitation for David will be held Thursday, July 24, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133, followed by a Memorial service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
