Donald Bruce Kay, 76, died in Collierville, TN on January 15th after a long fight with cancer. The family will receive friends this Saturday, January 25th, from 1 to 2 pm at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN. The funeral service and burial will follow at the same location.
Bruce was born in Windsor, Ontario on March 11, 1948 to Wilhelmina and Robert Kay. He was a devoted son, father, and grandfather. A loyal and generous man, he took his obligations, what he gave to friends and family, very seriously.
He served in the Army, maintaining Pershing missiles along the German border. He used the GI Bill to great effect, spending years at university and ending up with a Math degree and an MBA. Before retiring, he spent 27 years at FedEx as a statistician.
He loved hiking, sports, reading, and his dogs. The light went out of his life in 2017, when his loving wife, Anita Kay, died, but he found joy and solace spending time with his son, daughter, granddaughters, family, and friends.
He is survived by his daughter Kathryn (Francois), his son Andrew (Natalie), and his three granddaughters Katell, Solenn, and Star. He joins his wife Anita and beloved parents in rest. The space he leaves in the world will never completely fill, and those he leaves behind will never forget him.
A visitation for Bruce will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133 with services immediately following at 2:00 PM. His graveside will be Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Pkwy, Bartlett, TN 38133.
