

Earl James Landry, born in Scott, Louisiana, passed away on April 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the first of four sons born to Earl and Anna(Royer) Landry. Earl James grew up with the values that shaped the man he became; hard working, loyal, generous, and deeply devoted to the people he loved.
Earl James spent his life in construction, working as a general contractor known for his skill, reliability, and willingness to help anyone who needed a hand. He also owned and operated several Subway restaurants, pouring the same dedication into his businesses that he brought to every part of his life.
He loved traveling, going to the auto races, spending time at car shows, and in more recent years going to the Memphis Redbirds games, fishing, and going to the zoo and feeding the giraffes. But nothing brought him more joy than his family—especially his grandchildren. Earl James was the kind of man who would do anything for the people he cared about, and he showed his love through action, service, and steady presence.
Earl James is survived by his loving wife, of nearly 60 years, Mary Jane Touchet Landry, their two dearly loved children, and 5 cherished grandchildren. His son Troy, and his wife, Karen, and their two daughters, Tayler Hawk, and her husband, Jonah, and
Kasidy. His daughter Tonya Landry Smith, and her husband, Jeremy, and their three sons, Blake, Sam, and Judson.
Earl James is also survived by two of his beloved brothers, Alex Landry, and his wife, Anna, and Ronnie Landry, and his wife, Jeri, his godchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Anna Landry, and his brother, Calvin Landry.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Pkwy, Bartlett, TN 38133. Family and friends are invited to attend and share memories.
Earl James will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, his kindness, and the way he made everyone around him feel supported and cared for. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply and the countless lives he touched along the way.
