Thinking of you Mitzie and Gene’s boys and their families. Christmas meant a little more this year as I put some of my ceramics out  that Uncle Gene had painted for me over the years.  He will be missed by many! I have many fond memories from over the years. Love to you all. ❤️

Gene was the love of my life and I miss him so much. It is not a day goes by that I look for his loving smile and his warm touch. He was the person who understood me and loved me for who I am. He was a true gentleman, always found the good in people, loved family., and was a religious person. Gene served in the Air Force before I was born. In fact he was in Moracco when I was born.  We met through a friend in Phoenix. We hit it off right away. One weekend he too k me to a church called the Church of the Holy Cross in Sedona, Az, to light a prayer candle for my father, He left me along in the church. On the way out I heard a voice “ Your not alone, someone loves you too.” I looked around and no one was there but me.  When Gene saw me his asked what was a matter. I finally told him what I heard. Anyone else would have thought I was crazy.  We both realized God had blessed us and we were meant to be together. It was true love for 42 years. We both were there each other  in sickness and health. Our world circled around each other. His boys became mine and we have a wonderful grandson. We have a wonderful family to remember him by and carry on his memory. He love will always be in my heart and I will always cherish the memories we had.

Watching the sun set is like loosing a big part of your life. Gene was that part. There are sunsets every day but there are not many you enjoy  like the special ones you actually take the time to watch fully. He was our special one and he is  missed by all of us. But how he lived and how good he was to everyone will live through our actions everyday!  This is what he would want from us by making things around you a better place. What a legacy to leave and not even know it!

Gene loved playing cards. He would play anytime anywhere. He would take his time to make the right move while the rest of us just flipped a card. We will all miss our card buddy and the fun he brought with it. We looked forward to playing because there was never a dull moment!

Schmidt Jewlery in Phoenix is where Gene retired. We moved to Bartlett,Tn to help my sister take care of our mom.

Gene and I and our grandson. I never had kids of my own.  He calls me grandma Mitzi. We spent a lot of time with him. Gene was proud he turned out to be a successful young man.

Gene and I went on a sunset cruise on the Big Island. This was our 10th anniversary.

Aloha! We were enjoying our vacation in Maui. I think that was our favorite place. We were with family. Gene’s brother, his nephew, neice and sister-in-law.

Gene and his buddies were the men’s city champions in Debuque, Iowa. He loved playing in a league and was a good bowler.

Judy and Ted were Gene’s card players. They looked forward to playing cards with him.

This is our wonderful grandson. Jason is Greg’s son. We had a lot of good times as he was growing up. He has grown to be a successful young man. We loved all the times we spent with him.

This photo was taken in Debuque, Iowa. Gene was in a bowling league in 1968. Gene a Ray Dilter won doubles with 1313. His team were the DBA champs.

Gene and Mitzi in Las Vegas on our 1st Aniversery. We ended up with a suite in the Tropicana Hotel. It was a wonderful trip. Of coarse it was always fun with Gene.

Gene went to a car show and found a truck he had when he was young. He called it the Green Winnie. He loved that truck.

Gene loved to paint Christmas village houses. They were very detailed and I love to make a display every year. I will put this up every year as a memorial to Gene.

Kitty and Lisa were very loving and paid attention to Gene. Lisa was always there along with her mother and Ted when we needed help here in Bartlett. Gene loved Lisa more than you will ever know.

This is Wendy and his son Mike. Wendy stayed with us and helped take care of Gene when he could not walk before he had neck surgery. He loved her like a daughter.

What a handsome guy. He was proud of his service in Morocco during the Korean War. His hut was the only one that had green grass.

Gene was so excited when he got a hole in one. He loved golf and played every Thursday when he was able.

We were enjoying our trip to Maui. We went with Roger (Genes brother) and wife (Janet). We had a great surprise when his nephew (John) and niece (Marge) came.

These 2 meant to be together and lived so deep. God had a plan for them and it blessed us all. Life will not be the same but we know he is where he is supposed to be!

Gene through the good and bad you and I had fun with funny faces, jibber jabber talk, getting you a shower, the garden , all our talks and the list goes on…. We could make the worst situations so much fun. Thank you for all the love and putting things in perspective. You will always be in my heart!!!! You are the only Superman I have had or will have😘

He no re was such a blessing to everyone he met because he live from his heart. Always had something going on to make you laugh.

Gene was in the hospital after neck surgery. Lisa asked if he wanted a selfy. She taught him what a selfy was. Lisa was great with him. He loved her very much.

Nice visit in Phoenix with is favorite nephew and his friend Jerry. He always loved the laughs and fun times.

Gene loved Hawaii. We got a chance to go twice. He loved the hula show.

Gene loved playing Bookworm every chance he had for about 2 hours. He was a pro at that game.
