Evelyn Ivy Hanson

Evelyn Ivy Hanson entered Heaven Oct. 11, 2014 at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by husband Leslie Hanson, daughter Sandra Davis and son Bennie Jones. She was the daughter of Samuel Jefferson McCarter and Effie Ivy McCarter. She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Anne Crawley, grandchildren Stephanie Baker, Justin Autry, Jessica and Jennifer Crawley, Rachel and Brooke Jones, 4 great grandchildren, Judson, Hayden and Knox Autry and Daxton Crawley, a special son-in-law Johnny Crawley, a special daughter-in-law Diane Jones, special extended family, Leslie Hanson, Linda Hanson and Debbie Magee, a brother, Sam McCarter of Georgia, and three sisters, Jean Sterling of Oakland TN, Peggy Cabrera of California and Linda Yuhas of Ohio. Mrs. Hanson was a member of the J.O.Y Class of Bellevue Baptist Church and was Editor of the Class Newsletter “Herald of JOY”. She was a Sears employee for 27 years, a Past President of the Memphis Songwriters Association and a past member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, October 13 from 5-7pm at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10am also at the funeral home.
