

Floyd Daniel Johnson, Jr. of Bartlett went to his heavenly home on April 7, 2014. He was a native Memphian and graduate of Humes High School. He was the Past Master of Summer Avenue Masonic Lodge and was a member for over fifty years. He belonged to the Scottish Rite and was a Shriner. Mr. Johnson was a member of Decatur Trinity Christian Church. He founded Painting Unlimited, Inc. and was a successful businessman for 40 years, retiring at the age of 80. He took pride in hard work and above all was an honest and ethical businessman.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He had a love for life and a wonderful sense of humor. Mr. Johnson's generosity was legendary with his family and friends, as well as countless others he quietly helped. He was married in 1950 to his high school sweetheart, Joy, and they spent 63 years together. He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd D. Johnson, Sr. and Jimmie Lou Johnson Levi, as well as his brother Bobby Joe Johnson. He is survived by his wife Joy, two daughters, Debbie Hogan, M.D., and Cathy (Danny) Garrett, and three grandchildren-John Daniel Hogan of Boston, Emily Garrett, and Adam (Kelly) Hogan of New Orleans.
Visitation will be Wednesday April 9th from 5-8 pm at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens at 3700 N. Germantown Road. A celebration of life will be held there on Thursday, April 10th at 10:00 am. The family requests that memorial donations be sent to Decatur Trinity Christian Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
