Fred William Ward, born April 8, 1924 in Memphis to Robert & Eunice Sutton Ward. He died September 21, 2014 in Memphis, TN. Mr. Ward was a World War II veteran, was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church where he was a member of Faith Builders. He took great joy in His mission work. For this he was Honored by President, George H.W. Bush as a member of Points of Light. Fred retired from the Kemmons Wilson Inc. where he was employed for 40 years. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Verlee Wood Ward (October 18, 1946); his daughter, Donna Durand and son, Steve Ward (Janet) all of Memphis; grandchildren, Cynthia Dempsey (Greg), Chris Kellum (Nicole), Andrea Smith (Ron) and Wes Ward (Amy); 1 great grandson; five great granddaughters; beloved nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett, TN. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., September 24, 2014 at Faith Baptist Church, 3755 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett, TN with the interment to follow at Memorial Gardens.
