

Gaylon was born on March 5, 1939, in Memphis, TN, the son of Grady Brooks and Lorean Anglin, and lived his entire life in the Memphis area. Gaylon is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ann Brooks, his sons Ed and Bobby Brooks, his daughter-in-law Denise Brooks, grandsons Zane and Nicholas Brooks, brother-in-law Bobby Ginn, sisters-in-law Betty Ginn and Martha Peppers, many beloved nieces and nephews, also Jason Barnard and Angela Jones and her daughters Savannah and Scarlett, whom he helped raise as if they were his own.
Gaylon served in the Army, was a brick mason, and retired from Golden Flake Snack Foods. His hobbies included playing softball, fishing, model building, woodworking, and coin collecting. He was a long-time Deacon for North Frayser Baptist Church. He was always happy and in a joyful mood and was the master of dad jokes. For all the men in his life, he set an example on how to be an honorable husband and father. He will be forever missed, but he left behind great memories with everyone he knew. Gaylon was a man of great faith. Most importantly, he loved his family.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 14th from 1:00-2:30 pm, with memorial services to immediately follow. Both services will be at Memphis Funeral Home, 3700 N. Germantown Parkway in Bartlett, TN.
