

Randy Broughton, aged 69, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 19, 2024 at the Gulfside Hospice Center in Zephyrhills, FL with his loving family. Randy was born on December 20, 1954 in Memphis, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Blarnae Broughton.
Randy lettered in swimming in high school before attending the University of Memphis where he earned his Master’s degree in Parks and Recreation. He returned to college later to earn his teaching certification to teach high school. Randy taught at Memphis City Schools before teaching at a girl’s private school. He then taught 15 years at Desoto County Schools in MS before retiring to move to FL to be closer to his daughters who live in Orlando, FL.
During his teaching career, Randy coached many sports. He was a coach for boys soccer, girls swimming team that went to the state tournament, and girl’s softball. He was fondly called “Coach B” by his students. Randy’s greatest legacy was his Christian influence on his daughters and students who knew him. His pastor said that when asking for prayers for him, he said that all the students said they loved Coach B. He will affect future generations because of his love and influence on his students. Randy loved being around the ocean, playing golf and being outdoors. After retiring, he returned to teaching as a substitute teacher with Pasco County Schools for several years before his health failed..
He is survived by his beloved wife Faye and twin daughters Brandi and Kristi Broughton.
His sense of humor and dedication to his loved ones will be greatly missed. His memory will live on in the lives of his family.
Graveside service will be Wednesday, December 4 at 12:00 PM, at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 Germantown Road, Bartlett, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, the family asks if you would like to make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
