

Hazel Ruth (Helms) Vaughan, 71, of Cordova, TN, passed away Friday, May 8, 2015. Mrs. Vaughan was born June 18, 1943, in Calhoun County, MS, to Grady Lee Helms and Myrtie Reedy Helms. An attendee of Derma High School and a graduate of Calhoun City High School, Mrs. Vaughan was a licensed cosmetologist and later served as Derma Town Clerk for over a decade. She eventually moved to Tennessee and retired from the banking field in Memphis. Hazel was a member of Derma Baptist Church (Derma, MS) where she sang in the choir, but most recently attended Barton United Methodist Church (Barton, MS). She is survived by her son, Jerry Wells Vaughan, Jr. (Jay), and her daughter-in-law Leslie Dalferes Vaughan (Sissy). Hazel also leaves to cherish her memory: her grandson, Grady Neelis Vaughan, her granddaughter, Macy Wells Vaughan, her sister, Lexie Nell Phillips (and brother-in-law, Merrill Phillips), many cousins, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Wells Vaughan, her father, Grady Lee Helms, her mother, Myrtie Reedy Helms, and her sister, Anna June Grant.
