She is survived by her children; Arlene Brauer Marker, David Brauer (Lynn); grandchildren, Michael Marker, Jr. (Jenn), Kelly Marker, Christopher Marker (Jamie), Steven Lazar (Rachael), Jennifer Cooper, Donnie Cooper, and Amber Davis; sixteen great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; her siblings, Wade Givens, Betty Givens Palmer, Glenn Givens (Betty); and Dallas Gill, her life companion.
Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 20 years, Walter F. Brauer; parents, Ellis Givens and Sallye Hubbard Givens and grandson Jonathan Davis.
Helen was a breast cancer survivor; an avid gardener that had a love for all kinds of flowers especially orchids. She was a member of the Memphis Orchid Society and the National Orchid Society. A friend once had grafted an orchid and named it after her "Helen". She enjoyed volunteering her time at the Orchid Society conventions and sharing her talents with them. Helen was also a talented seamstress; an artist, working with oils, watercolors and charcoal. She loved to travel, one of her favorite trips was one she had taken with Dallas to Hawaii. She enjoyed listening to her music but most of all Helen loved her family beyond measure. Helen retired from FedEx after 20 years of service in the flight training department
A gathering of family and friends for Helen will be held Monday, September 16, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. A celebration of life will follow at 2:00 PM, burial will be in Memorial Gardens following the service.
