

On September 13, 2010, James Edward McKee, Jr. was promoted to the presence of his Lord and Savior after a long and courageous struggle. Mr. McKee spent his entire career in the wood working industry managing facilities for Desoto Hardwood Flooring Co. in Memphis, Bassett Furniture in Dumas, AR, Dixon Lumber Co. of Galax, VA, Dolly Madison Furniture Co. in Blackstone, VA and Great Southern in Horn Lake. He leaves his wife of 57 years, Peggy Rogers McKee; 3 sons and their wives, Stan and Betsy, Ricky and Cindy and Mark and Stacy, all of the Memphis area. He had 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Mr. McKee also leaves two brothers, Don and Charles, both of the Memphis area. Mr. McKee was born on June 24, 1935 in Hamilton, MS, the eldest son of James E. McKee, Sr. and Mary Brown McKee. He attended Ashland High School in Ashland, MS. James and Peggy are members of the Goodman Road Baptist Church in Horn Lake. The family will receive friends this evening, Tuesday, September 14 from 5-8 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 15 at the funeral home with interment to follow in Memorial Gardens, Formerly Memory Hill Gardens. 1 Peter 5:10.
