Jesse Barnes

Jesse L. Barnes, 84, formerly of Water Valley, MS, residing in Arlington, TN went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 31, 2010. Mr. Barnes served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He retired from E. I. Dupont after 25 years of service. Mr. Barnes was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and fisherman and enjoyed doing both with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Carolyn Barnes. He was a member of Ellendale Baptist Church. Mr. Barnes is survived by his children, Clayton Barnes of Gadsden, AL, Mike Barnes (Patricia) of Arlington, TN, Donna Gillentine (John) of Arlington, TN, Jesse E. Barnes (Trisha) of Bartlett, TN, and Nancy Spurlock (Danny) of Helena-West Helena, AR. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Harris of Attalla, AL. 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, September 2 from 5-8 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Germantown Rd. The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 3 at 2 p.m. at the same location with interment to follow in Memorial Gardens (formerly Memory Hill Gardens).
