

John Thomas “Tommy” Williams, 65, of Bartlett passed away Friday, February 19, 2016 at his home. Mr. Williams was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Millington Police Officer for over 25 years, rising to the rank of Detective. After retiring, he taught Criminal Justice, coached basketball and softball at Arlington High School . Tommy loved to spend his time watching the Grizzlies, Memphis Tigers basketball, major league baseball especially the St. Louis Cardinals, traveling to major league ballparks, playing his guitars and being delighted by his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Janice Raye Binkley Williams; daughter, Meredith Williams Chambers (Jay) of Bartlett; son, Mark Williams (Tara) of Collierville and Ross Williams (Allison) of Memphis; siblings, Randy Williams, Ritchie Williams (Belinda), and Zeri Williams Lorenz all of Bartlett; grandchildren, Morgan, Caitlyn, and Luke; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Irby and Eloise Williams. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Monday, February 22, 2016 and a funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, February 23, 2016 both at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett, TN. The family requests that memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society or please feel free to send flowers if you wish.
