John Edward Wyatt entered into his eternal home on September 9, 2021 at the age of 91. He was the youngest of six children born to Roy and Florence Wyatt in White Hall, IL. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers Clifford (Betsy) Wyatt, Charles “Tink” Wyatt, sisters, Marjorie (Russell) McGlasson, and Elizabeth Wyatt.
He is survived by the love of his life, June Marlene Wyatt. They were married on December 24, 1951. Also, surviving are daughter, Diana (Wally) Shrader, son, Bradley (Janice) Wyatt, grandchildren, Shawnna (Matt) Williams, Adrienne (Spencer) Hare, Brian (Rebecca) Wyatt, Brittany (Sean) Crawford, Kasey (Andrew) McKnight and Robby Wyatt, great grandchildren, Evan and Sophee Willliams, Britton and Seldon Hare, Avery and Carter Wyatt, Ella Marshall, Freeman and Brooklyn McKnight, and baby Crawford on the way, sister, Norma Dean Wright, sister-in-law, Phyllis Wyatt, as well as, many nephews and nieces and family friends.
He graduated from White Hall High School in 1947. He served his country in the US Air Force from 1948-1954 and was an electronic technician working on fighter planes during the Korean War. He worked for the FAA as an electronic technician on VORTAC equipment in Farmington, MO until his retirement in 1984. He was a selfless, Godly man who dearly loved his family. He was a pillar of strength, though quiet, constantly making sacrifices and placing the needs of others ahead of his own. He served as a leader in multiple civic organizations and he was an Elder for many years at the Farmington Christian Church in MO and he was a Deacon at New Hope Christian Church in Bartlett, TN. He enjoyed the game of golf, though he hadn’t played for several years.
He had an infectious smile and sweet nature, and although dementia had taken over, we were blessed that he knew us to the end. He was the G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All Time) Husband, Dad, Grandpa, and PawPaw, and he will be missed here on earth by all of his family, and all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. A funeral service will occur Monday, September 13, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
