

Johnny Craig Kennedy, Sr., age 57, of Memphis, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016. Craig began his early career on the Illinois Central (IC) Railroad, with his grandfather and younger brother. It is presently called the Canadian National Railway. He went on to become a certified millwright journeyman with the Local Union 1544. Among many other jobs and hobbies, he was also a certified welder and scuba diver. Craig was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Stallins-Kennedy; son, Johnny C. Kennedy, Jr; and grandmother, Ruth C. Stallins. He is survived by his daughters, Jessica R. Kennedy of Collierville, TN and Cynthia R. Kennedy of Byhalia, MS; fiancé, Debbie Koester of Memphis; brother and sister-in-law, Jeff T. and Paulia Spurlock Kennedy of Hot Springs, AR; father and step-mother, Johnny L. and Linda Gail Brewer Kennedy of Rossville, TN; grandchildren, Isabelle R. Kennedy and Jackson M. Lenhart; and nephew, Nickolas B. Kennedy. Craig was a beloved son, father and grandfather. His heart was full of love and his spirit full of life. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. The family received friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 12, 2016 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd., Bartlett, TN.
