
Kathreen Crawley Dunlap, age 97, died October 26, 20ll, in Conroe, TX. She resided in The Woodlands, TX, formerly in Memphis. Mrs. Dunlap was born in Overbrook, OK, the daughter of Ellen Kimery Crawley and Dr. John William Jeter Crawley. At the time of her birth, her father was physician on an American Indian Reservation. She grew up in rural Weakley County, TN. and graduated from Bradford HS, Bradford, TN. She attended Bethel College in McKenzie, TN. After marriage she and her husband lived in Chicago, IL, for ten years, moved to Memphis in 1947 and to TX in 2003.
Mrs. Dunlap was a talented seamstress, working from her home while raising her family, tailoring dance recital costumes and uniforms for private schools. Later she became a real estate broker, founder and owner of Dunlap Realty Co., Memphis, where she worked until her retirement. She enjoyed baking, loved animals especially cats, followed politics closely and was a fan of the Atlanta Braves baseball team. She never missed watching the political conventions and the World Series on TV.
Mrs. Dunlap is survived by her daughter Nelda Head and husband Michael of Winchester, VA, son Edward M Dunlap and Katie Proctor of The Woodlands, TX, grandchildren Andrea H Mitchell and husband Danny of Richardson, TX, Karen H Spurr and husband Elmer of Austin, TX, Melissa Alcocer and husband Ben of Garland, TX; Rachel Dunlap of Austin, TX, Samantha Dunlap of Seguin, TX, Lawdon Head and wife Tiffany of Centennial, CO, and Jonah Head of Vancouver, WA; foster granddaughter Debbie McCollum of FL; great-grandchildren Daniel Mitchell and wife Jamie of Austin, TX, Lisa M Schmaltz and husband Jason of San Francisco, CA, Corbyn and Alyse Alcocer of Garland, TX; great-great-grandson Laudon Mitchell of Austin, TX and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 74 years, Edward Laudon Dunlap, in April, 2011, her daughter Annette Hardesty in 2008, and her son-in-law Eugene Hardesty in 2011.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday, October 29 in the chapel at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Road, 901-725-0100, with a graveside service to follow. Online condolences may be made at www.memphisfuneralhome.net.
