Lanelle Golightly Simmons

Lanelle Golightly Simmons was born on May 13, 1934 in Memphis, TN. She attended Central High School in Memphis and was a long time member of Georgian Hills Baptist Church in Frayser. Most recently she was a member of First Baptist Church, Fisherville. Lanelle passed away on March 24th, 2021 at the age of 86. She is predeceased by her parents, Luke and Bessie Golightly, her husband John, daughter Evelyn Ward, and son John Jr. She is survived by 2 sons, Steve Simmons (Wanda) of Oakland, TN and Alan Simmons (Mary) of Bella Vista, AR, son in law Ray Ward of Memphis, daughter in law Cindy Simmons of Savannah, TN. 4 Grandchildren, Amy Ward of Knoxville, TN, Emily Ward of Memphis, Ashley Woodruff of Germantown, Joshua Simmons of Alamo, TN, 4 Great Grandchildren and a brother, Gordon Golightly (Mary) of Jackson, TN. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 29th from 5-7 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens at 3700 N Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN 38133. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 30th at 10 AM at the same location. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to Wounded Warrior at woundedwarriorproject.org
