Larry Harold Jones, 63, of Bartlett, TN left his earthly home, family, and friends on Friday, April 15, 2016, after a sixteen year struggle with heart disease. He was a member of Highland Church of Christ and a retired Major with the Army Reserves. Additionally, he was a longtime member and supporter of both the Tennessee and American Associations of Nurse Anesthetists. Larry was also affiliated with the Rolling Thunder organization and the Hombre Motorcycle Riding Group. He retired from Gastro One in February, 2016 for medical reasons, after working 34 years as a Nurse Anesthetist in Memphis and surrounding areas. Larry is survived by his wife of almost 39 years, Marilyn, his son Logan, and his three-year-old grandson, Tatum. In addition, he leaves his three loving sisters, Barb Lambert-Griffin (Tommy) and P.J. Scherer (Richard) of Fort Worth, TX, and Julie Perugini of Memphis, and is preceded in death by his parents, Harold B. and Thelma L. Jones of Martin, TN. Larry leaves his much loved mother-in-law, Betty Shearon of Millington, along with three brothers by marriage and choice, Barry Shearon (Rene) of Arlington, Landon Shearon (Wanda) of Pocahontas, TN, and Richard Lambert of Fort Worth, TX. He also leaves an uncle, Paul Jones of Michigan, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and too many friends and co-workers to count. Larry was a man of God, a husband, a father, and a grandfather, as well as a brother by choice, an uncle, and a friend to many. Larry loved God, his family, his friends, and his country. He also loved his Harley and the long motorcycle trips he took every year with the other Hombres. He was very passionate about his politics and proud to be a veteran. If you knew Larry at all you counted him as a friend or brother by choice, or both. If you knew Larry you also knew about his wife, son, and grandson, and how proud he was of them and how much he loved them. Larry shared his real life struggles and joys, and had the gift of making others feel comfortable to share theirs. Larry was a provider, a people person, and caretaker by nature and profession; always willing to help. He often just showed up before others were even aware of a need. There are many, many stories of Larry just showing up in his big red truck to do whatever needed to be done at the time, whether it was helping a co-worker or friend, cutting the yard, working on a project, or just simply taking time to visit and pray. If you were with Larry, three things were a certainty; he shared his faith, he talked about Bible scriptures that helped him, and he prayed with you and for you. He tried to live his faith and because of that, he helped encourage and inspire others to do the same. Larry had full faith and confidence in God’s will and plan for his life. Larry had a peace, comfort, and confidence that only God could provide, whether his future was to be more years with a renewed heart by surgical transplant, or simply a healed and restored body in heaven. Either way, Larry wanted his story and his journey to be one of praise and celebration.
