Lonnie was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Francis of Assisi in Cordova, TN where he was a lector and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Lonnie Edward Loeffel was born in Memphis, TN June 23rd 1961. He attended St. Michael Catholic School and Christian Brothers High School (79). He went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Memphis. He continued his education several years later, again at the University of Memphis, where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.
Lonnie went to work with Tri- State Armature & Electric in 1991 where he was employed at the time of his death. He started as a project manager/estimator working his way up through the company ranks and 2005 Lonnie was named as President of the company. He considered the employees of TSA his extended family. Lonnie was also currently serving as President of the Arkansas Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). As well, he was serving as a Trustee on the Arkansas NECA-IBEW Retirement Fund. He was also a Trustee on the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC). He served in various positions with the Arkansas Chapter of NECA throughout the years including Vice President, Treasurer, and Division Chairman. He served as a Trustee on the Memphis Electrical Retirement Plan since 2008 including multiple terms as Chairman.
Lonnie’s time away from work was filled with family. He loved the time spent with siblings and most of all his nieces and nephews. Lonnie traveled extensively with his family. He enjoyed family vacations to the beach (although not a huge fan of the sand), playing golf with his brothers and brother in law, cruises with his sister, snow skiing, and amusement parks with his nieces and nephews. Weekends often found him with family around the fire pit enjoying their company and a glass of wine. He was a HUGE University of Memphis Tiger fan and Tiger Club booster. He went to every possible game with his brothers, sisters, nieces, & nephews.
Lonnie was known for his positive outlook on life, the calm one in times of turmoil or trouble, a true leader to his family and his employees, the voice of reason. He was always considerate to others and never confrontational. His loss will be felt by many.
