He was born to the late Col. EB Cheston and Ann Robinson Cheston on May 19th, 1948 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Pete Cheston (Key) and Mike Cheston.
Randy served in Vietnam as an Army Special Forces Officer, and later went to the Marines and flew in his military career the A6, AV8, A4, and the F-18. He was also a veteran of Desert Storm. He went on to his third career as a FedEx Pilot for almost 18 years. Not only a FedEx pilot, he was also a Federal Flight Deck officer and a Flight Crew Defense Readiness instructor for the corporation. When he was not flying for FedEx, he worked locally with the Tipton County Sheriff's Department as a reserved deputy and with the Tipton County SWAT.
Randy is survived by his wife of 49 years, Janice Cheston; his children, Cary Cheston, Jr. (Laura), Jennifer Cheston Owens, Andrew Cheston (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Tyler, Ava, Noah, Elliana; his sister, Sandy Doyle (Pat); his sister in law, Laurie Wesely; and a host of many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Randy was a faithful member of Highland Heights Presbyterian Church. He was a ruling Elder and served on the security team.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Highland Heights Presbyterian Church, or Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
The memorial service will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm following with the memorial service at 2:00pm on Saturday, December 11th. Reception to follow. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
