

Lucille Givens, 92, a resident of Ave Maria Assisted Living, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2014. During World War II, she worked for the Arkansas State Police, was a seasonal employee of the IRS, H & R Block as a tax preparer and volunteered with the AARP and prepared tax returns for the elderly. She also was a graduate of Draughon’s Business School, was an auxiliary member of the Retired Military Officer’s Association and was a member Mullins United Methodist Church. Mrs. Givens, the widow of Lt. Colonel Mitchell S. Givens, Retired U.S. Army, is survived by a son and daughter in law, M. Stanley and Joyce Givens of Johnson City, TN; daughter and son in law, Molly and Shan Tracy; grandson Gregory (Emily) Givens of Tuscaloosa, AL; granddaughter, Gena Givens of Middletown, CT; grandson, Kevin Givens of Tampa, FL; step granddaughter, Erin (Josh) Jaffe of Olive Branch, MS and step grandson, Justin Tracy of Hattiesburg, MS; great grandchildren, Nathan and Abigail Givens; step great grandson, Cameron Jaffe; and a nephew, George (Karla) Acuff of Farmers Branch,, TX. The family will receive friends Friday evening, May 30 from 6-8 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. A celebration of life service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 31 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens. Memorial gifts may be made to Mullins United Methodist Church.
