

Marcia A. Scudder, affectionately known as “Marty,” passed away on April 11, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on July 16, 1948, she grew up in Slayden, Mississippi, and later made her home in Memphis, Tennessee.
Marty graduated from Slayden High School, where she played on the girls’ basketball team and earned the nickname “The Roadrunner,” a name she carried throughout her life.
In her 20s, she worked at Holiday Inn, where she was introduced to her future husband, Eugene Scudder. She later married and co-founded Tri-State Machine Works, a valve repair and high-pressure water blasting business. After selling the business, Marty went on to serve as warehouse manager for Brother International until retirement.
Marty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved music, showing a special appreciation to that of Pavarotti and Patsy Cline, and enjoyed traveling, cherishing the trips she shared with her family and friends, especially to London, Switzerland, and her honeymoon in Hawaii. She also enjoyed working in her yard, watching hummingbirds, planting flowers, and proudly earning “Yard of the Month.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Scudder; her father, Johnny C. Allen; and her mother, Jane M. Allen; and her sister, Sandra King.
She is survived by her twin brother, Michael A. Allen (Joyce); her daughters, Nikki Scudder Robinson (Joey) and Melissa Scudder McGuary (Darrell); and her grandchildren, Hunter McGuary (Keila), Layla Harvey (Zach), Tyler Robinson (Tori), Mason Cole, and Lillian Cole.
Marty will be remembered as a strong, graceful, and classy woman whose love for her family was unwavering. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Visitation will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133, US, on April 17, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will take place at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133, US, on April 17, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 2:40 pm.
A Committal Service will follow at Memory Hill Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133, US, on April 17, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
