Margaret Ruth Barton, of Memphis, passed away on August 7, 2016; she was 93. Mrs. Barton was a housewife before beginning a long career in sales. During her career, she sold everything from menswear’s to Avon products. She immensely enjoyed socializing with the network of contacts she had made over the years. She was a member of Union Avenue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Barton, III. She is survived by her children, Gary Smith (Polly) and Barbara Buchanan (Victor). She also leaves her grandchildren, Chris Clunan (Ginny), Kevin Clunan (Elizabeth), Emily Smith, Julie Smith, and Tony Smith, as well as six great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Jordan, Wilkes, Grant, Bowen, and Ann Bryant. The family will receive friends from five until eight o’clock the evening of Tuesday, August 9 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Road, Bartlett, TN. There will be a graveside service at the same location the following day at two o’clock. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the charity of donor’s choice.
