

Marie Parks Mullikin, age 83, died at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN, on Wednesday, November 30, 2011. She was born on December 29, 1927 in Dockery, MS, the daughter of the late Thomas Arthur and Essie Lou Parks. She graduated from Ruleville High School, Ruleville, MS. She and her late husband, Bernie Mullikin, Jr. were charter members of St. Stephen United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Madonna Sunday School Class and an active member of the United Methodist Women (formerly the Women’s Society of Christian Service). She served as the UMW President and was a member of the Unity Circle as well as a leader in the Lela Diggs Circle for many years. She was recently recognized for her years of service support of the United Methodist Women’s Pledge to Missions, Candle-burning Service and Annual Bazaar. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 3 at St. Stephen United Methodist Church, 3981 Macon Rd., Memphis, TN 38122. She is survived by three daughters, Donna Marie Lantrip (Danny) of Arlington, TN, Frances Lee Dunavant (Don) of Oakland, TN, and VJ Dunavant of Lakeland, TN; three sons, Bernie Mullikin III (Lorraine) of Oakland, TN, John Wesley Mullikin (Christy) of Collierville and Paul Mullikin (Barb) of Paducah, KY; two sisters, Betty Jo Morgan of Vaiden, MS and Janet Joyner of Olive Branch, MS; two brothers, Wesley Parks of Somerville, TN and Wayne Parks of Drew, MS; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
