July 16, 1947 – August 28, 2025
Mary Carolyn Harp, 78, passed away peacefully at her home in Bartlett, Tennessee, on August 28, 2025. Except for her earliest years in Hughes, Arkansas—where she was born on July 16, 1947—Bartlett was the place she joyfully called home for nearly all of her adult life. It’s where she built a life of steady devotion to her family, her work, and the many friends who loved her.
Mary Carolyn is survived by her partner of twenty-five years, Clyde Gentry; her adored daughters, Autumn Harris and Paige Reynolds (Gabe Reynolds); and her treasured grandchildren, Lanie English (Caleb Cox), Gage English, Baylon Harris, and Fynlee Harris. She is also lovingly remembered by many additional family members, including Cissy Smith and Randy Henry. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Breeding; her father, Warren Henry; and her brothers, Robert and Billy Henry.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, Mary Carolyn loved her family fiercely and cared for her “fur babies” as if they were her own children. After graduating from high school, she moved to Memphis to attend business school, launching a career that spanned decades. She worked at U.M.I.C. for over twenty years as a mortgage specialist and concluded her professional life at Vining-Sparks Securities, Inc. as a Manager of Security Deliveries. Colleagues remember her as reliable, meticulous, and gracious, the kind of co-worker who became a lifelong friend.
Those who knew Mary Carolyn will miss her steady kindness, her quiet humor, and the way she made every person feel seen and valued. She showed her love in thoughtful, everyday ways, checking in, lending a hand, and celebrating even the small milestones of the people she cherished.
Visitation will be from 1:00–2:00 p.m., with the service immediately following on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. Family, friends, and colleagues are warmly invited to gather, share memories, and honor her beautiful life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Bartlett Animal Shelter in loving memory of Mary Carolyn Harp. May her gentle spirit live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
