Michael Joel Raines, 78, passed away peacefully November 26, 2022 in Memphis, TN. Mike, as he was known, was born in Columbus, Georgia May 6, 1944 to Robert L. Raines and Martha Nell Raines. His siblings were Jim Raines and Vicki Raines. After graduating high school in Florida, Mike attended college, worked in the auto industry, joined the Army Reserve and began his career of 30 years with General Motors in 1969. Mike met his wife, Glenda Stevens, in Greensboro and married in 1970. Their only child, Michael Glen Raines, was born in Orange Park, Florida April 27, 1976. Mike’s hobbies were boating, fishing, building and flying model airplanes. While in California, Mike and his son spent a lot of time building and flying model airplanes with the Conejo Valley RC Club. Many milestones were accomplished during his lifetime. He retired from GM in Memphis, Tennessee. His son graduated from college, married Kimberly, and his grandchildren, Christopher and Lauren were born. Mike is survived by his wife, Glenda Raines, his son Michael Glen Raines, his daughter-in-law, Kimberly Gay Raines, Christopher Michael Raines, grandson and Lauren Elizabeth Raines, granddaughter. Mike was a wonderful husband and father and loved his family very much. He will live in our hearts and minds forever.
Funeral services will be private.
