Patricia O. Garnett

God called home His faithful servant Patricia (Pat) Olene Cummins Garnett on February 14, 2018 at her home with her loving family by her side. Pat was the third of five siblings born to the late Walter W. and Irene B. Cummins July 3, 1943 in Hollis, OK. Pat grew up in Kansas attending Yoder Elementary and graduating from Cheney High School in 1961. After graduating high school Pat elected to pursue a career in insurance starting with Travelers Insurance Company in Wichita. Her insurance career expanded to over 50 years. During her career, she enjoyed many honors including the President of Insurance Women of Memphis.

She was affectionately known as Nana by all, and will always be remembered for her many activities of cooking, painting, church but the most beloved activity was spent taking care of her family including her extended church family.

Pat married her longtime school and church friend the love of her life, Sheldon Garnett in 1963 at Cheney Baptist Church where both proudly are charter members.

During her and Sheldon’s marriage, they lived in ten different states making the most of many memorable experiences. They also enjoyed many vacation trips including an outstanding camera safari in Africa.

Pat is survived by Sheldon, her husband of 54 plus years; two daughters: Rhonda Nabors (Paul); RaDonna Garnett; of Bartlett, TN; three wonderful grandchildren: James Nabors, Nashville, TN; Daniel Yarbrough and Rebecca Yarbrough of Bartlett, TN. One brother Ross Cummins, Lawrence, KS and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins as well as a wonderful church family and followers of God.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Glendell Cummins, Sacramento, CA; Richard Cummins of Paris, AR; and one sister Cindy Knootz of Denver, CO.

Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Liver Foundation, Bartlett Baptist Church Missions or Crossroads Hospice.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 17 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens at 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN 38133. Services will be on Sunday, February 18 at 2:00pm at Bartlett Baptist Church, 3465 Kirby Whitten Pkwy, Bartlett, TN 38133.
