He is survived by his Sons Raymond C. (Lila), J. Tom (Brenda), J. Tim (Laura), and Robert J. (Cathie) and his devoted caregivers John and Su Gardner and Cynthia Smith. He has seen seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years F. Carolyn Thompson.
After high school he spent the last few months of WW2 in the USN and he had several other jobs; but settled at the US Postal Service where he stayed until retirement. His favorite endeavors were gardening and working with his tractor(s). He read western and spy novels and frequented the area library and used bookstores.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Church of the Nativity in Bartlett in his honor.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett TN 38133. A committal service with military honors will be held in Calvary Cemetery following the memorial service.
