

Raymond Edward McCoy, Cordova, TN, passed away at Kirby Pines Retirement Community, Memphis, TN on Friday, October 25, 2013. Ray, as family and friends called him, was born on October 8, 1941 to Clifford and Alberta Hurford McCoy in Erie, KS. The family moved to Chanute, KS where he graduated from Chanute High School and Neosho Community College. He served in the Army National Guard and Army Reserves and continued his education at Emporia State University, Emporia, KS, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Ray worked in Kansas City, MO and Dallas, TX before moving to the Memphis area in 1980 to be the Director of Marketing & New Product Development for Kleer-Vu Industries in Brownsville, TN. In 1992 he joined his brother in the sales and marketing of Law Enforcement Equipment until his retirement in 2011. He made many friends throughout the Law Enforcement community during this time and through his efforts helped bring cutting edge technology that reduced traffic deaths and crime. Ray was an active member of Advent Presbyterian Church for over 33 years, serving as usher and greeter. He was an avid golfer and played many rounds at Edmund Golf Course in Millington, TN.
Ray is survived by his wife of 41 years, Chyrl, his brother, Ken McCoy and his wife Roz, Chanute, KS and his sister, Debbie Mishler and her husband Mark of Princeton, TX. He is lovingly remembered by nephews, Darrin McCoy and wife Cindy, Troy McCoy and wife Stacey, Ryan Baker and wife Megan, Cliff Mishler, and nieces, Maggie Watson and husband Mike, Ragan Vogel and husband Nate, as well as many other family members and close friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 2, at Advent Presbyterian Church, 1879 N. Germantown Parkway, Cordova, TN at 11 a.m. Family and friends will gather beginning at 10:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to Advent Presbyterian Church, American Cancer Society, Memphis Humane Society or the Diabetes Association.
