My son Waylon has many different heros. Some days it’s spiderman, others it’s the red power ranger. Well my hero growing up was my dad. He was strong and kind. And I say around the age of 13 or 14 I realized that if I wanted to spend time with my dad like my brothers did, I was going to have to learn to hunt and fish. So I started asking my dad how to shoot a rifle and how to use a climbing stand. My dad was more than happy to teach me the ins and outs of hunting. I will never forget the deer season, he had his hunting permit suspended. He told me he was going to have the last laugh because that game warden didn’t know his daughter could hunt and fill the freezer full of deer meat. I mean it didn’t matter if it was raining or so windy the pines were bending over backwards, I was hunting. I was determined to get a deer for my dad too. And when it finally happened and I hollered at my dad over the walkie talkie, Dad I got ONE. I could tell my dad was in disbelief. It was right at dusk and he told  stay there and don’t move! I hear the four wheeler coming up the trail and my dad gets off and says where is it?? I point and say it’s right over there. He walks about 10 yards in that direction and looks back and says you sure you got it?!  I said dad yes its right THERE! He walked another 10 yards and I hear, YOU DID GET IT! I could see my dad beaming with pride. That all his advice and time he spent teaching me really paid off and now, and NOW that game warden could take those few kennels of corn and put them, well you know where. That is just one of the countless memories I have with my dad hunting. I am sure a lot of you have memories of Ricky that just make you smile and laugh and I know without a doubt that’s how he would want to be remembered as strong, kind, funny, one hell of a hard worker and mechanic. To me though he will always be the best dad I could possibly ever ask God for and I am grateful for the 36 years I was blessed to be call his daughter. I love you! 

Mr. Ricky was always the biggest kid in the group. At Katie's baby shower for Waylon him and Chris volunteered to play the game. So Mr. Ricky ran down with the stroller with baby doll in tow. He rushed and changed the diaper and ran to the other end to win the game. He was always smiling and loved his kids and grandkids with his whole heart. Rest in peace Mr. Ricky; you definitely left your wonderful mark on us all. Love and prayers to all the family.

A good man,  an absolutely wonderful father to all of his children and a loving grandfather.  Although he may not be present in the physical sense any longer, the memories of him will live on and will be cherished.  He is much loved and will be missed.


You had the kindest soul of anyone I've ever known.  I don't recall ever seeing you without a smile on your face.  I was blessed to have been able to have a cousin as awesome as you.  Your presence here on earth will be greatly missed.  The beautiful irony is that our loss is your reunion with your dad (Uncle Joe), grandmother Moore and Rusty, to name a few.  I love you Ricky...

Rick was the most humblest and sweetest man that I was fortunate enough to know. He always made me laugh and could bring a smile to my face just wondering what he might say next. I'm thankful for having him in our family and in my life.  We have lost a truly special man. You will be missed & loved, always.
