Ron was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and servant of the Lord. A long-time and faithful member of Woodland Hills Church of Christ, he served as an Elder for over 30 years, dedicating his life to leadership, compassion, and unwavering faith. His walk with God was evident in both his words and his actions, and his influence touched countless lives within the church and community.
Ron was a hardworking and determined man who owned and operated a commercial construction company which he established and grew through years of dedication and hard work. He took great pride in his work and was known for his integrity, strong work ethic, and commitment to doing things the right way.
In addition to his professional and church service, Ron volunteered with Shelby County Emergency Services as an Emergency Medical Responder from 2008 to 2015 and served on the Board of Mid-South Christian Care for many years, selflessly giving his time to help others in moments of need.
He found great joy in spending time with his family and especially loved vacationing at the beach, where he could relax and enjoy God’s creation.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Betty Barker; his son, Ronald James Barker (LaNene); his daughter, Kristin Hungerford (Jeff); his cherished grandchildren, Collin Barker, Hope Barker, Kassidy Barker, Brynn Hungerford, and Morgan Hungerford; and his sisters, Judy Bailey and Vickie Bell (Bruce). He was preceded in death by his sister, Melanie Beatty.
Ron leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, love, and steadfast devotion to his family and church. While he will be deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing he has gone home to be with the Lord he served so faithfully.
