Rose Catherine Sullivan Lowrey passed away on Friday February 11 at her apartment in Memphis. A native Memphian, she was born to Mary Matheny and John Sullivan on October 8, I’m 1930, the eighth of nine children. Rose graduated from Sacred Heart High School. She was married to Iry.E. Lowrey Jr for sixty years when he passed in 2010.
She was mother to five children; Joe of Norfolk Virginia, Catherine Weingarten (Joe), Memphis, Charles (Carrie) of Los Angeles, Lewis, Louisville, Ky and Allen (Onika) of Nashville. Her brother-in-law Wayne Lowrey (Debbie) of Eads, Tn and nieces are also left to cherish her memory. In addition to her husband she was pre-deceased by all of her siblings with the exception of her brother Harold Sullivan of Madison Mississippi.
The Lowrey Family moved from Memphis to Nashville in 1969. Rose was a skilled seamstress and adorned her homes with hand made draperies and furniture coverings. Rose and Iry were avid square dance enthusiasts for several years, They traveled to various destinations in an RV and enjoyed vacations in Alaska, Hawaii and other places in the country. She moved from Hermitage, Tn to her independent living apartment at The Glenmary at Evergreen in 2019.

A visitation for Rose will be held Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, Tennessee 38133, followed by a graveside service at 2:01 PM.
