Stewart Allen Goddard, known to friends and family as Stew, passed away on April 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Washington, D.C., Stew grew up in Bethesda, MD. After high school, he proudly served in the United States Navy, with assignments in Honolulu, HI, and Millington, TN. Following his honorable discharge, he began a career with IBM in Memphis, later joining his friends at Inserve until his retirement.
Stew’s dedication extended beyond his career. Among his proudest accomplishments was founding the Goddard Foundation, a private family-funded 501(c)(3) organization that provides scholarships for higher education and supports medical research for Alzheimer’s disease. His favorite pastimes were time spent at Starbucks with his friends, and shopping for good deals at Aldi. He also enjoyed hobbies such as coin collecting and metal detecting for Civil War memorabilia.
Above all, Stew’s heart belonged to his family. His three daughters—Ashley Tucker (Dustin), Courtney Wilkerson (James), and Whitney Geitner (Derrick)—were his ultimate joy, and he actively participated in their daily lives, from school to sports. He made sure each of his daughters knew they were his #1, right up to his final night with them.
Stew shared 46 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Pam Faulkner Goddard. His three daughters blessed him with nine wonderful grandchildren—Dalton, Keaton, Hutton, Mallie, Aniston, Nash, Nora, Harlyn, and Callen—who affectionately knew him as “Bumpy” or “Bump.” Stew has one sibling, his brother, Stephen Goddard.
A private Navy military graveside service will be held on May 1, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in Bartlett, TN.
