
Susan was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness touched many lives. She spent much of her life caring for others, both through her work and in her daily life. Many in the community fondly remember her from her time working at the Cookie Jar and from the many children she lovingly babysat and cared for over the years. Her home and heart were always open.
Susan was deeply involved in her church for many years until her health declined. She was known for her strong faith, and anyone who sought her advice was sure to hear the words, “pray and have faith.” Her love for the Lord and her encouragement to others left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Isaiah Upton and his wife Melanie of Byhalia, Mississippi, and Kathy Upton-Taylor and her husband Carl of Millington, Tennessee. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Kayla Turner (Jeremy) of Byhalia, Mississippi; Taylor Daughtry (Brandon) of Byhalia,Mississippi and Madison Upton of Fort Myers, Florida; Kaleb Upton of Millington, Tennessee; and Kyle Taylor of Millington, Tennessee. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren.
Susan is also survived by her sisters, Tina Baird and Pat Grace, along with many nieces and nephews, as well as countless children she loved and cared for throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete W. Maxey and Margaret L. Maxey; her sister, Stephanie Davidson; and her brother, Henry Maxey.
Susan will be remembered for her generous heart, her devotion to family, her deep faith, and the love she freely gave to so many. Her memory will live on in the lives she touched and the family she cherished.
