

WALTER HENRY GLOVER, JR., 82, was born on August 11, 1930 and went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 7, 2012. Born in Frenchman's Bayou, AR to Walter Henry and Sallie Ozelle Johnson Glover, he grew up in Joiner, AR with his sisters, Essie Mae (Sissy) and Lala Evelyn Perkins, who all preceeded him in death. After he served his country during the Korean War as a SGT. in the Army, he married his "Pretty Lady" Joann McGarrity Glover; they were married for 58 wonderful years. He was retired from Shelby Electric, and was a member of IBEW Local 474, Memphis Street Rod Assn., and Bluff City Sam's RV Club.Family was Daddy's greatest joy in life, and he left his legacy of integrity and character to his five children: Walter Glover III, Phyllis (Glen) Woodruff, Kathy (Greg) Davenport, Anita (Jimmy) Chandler, and Kristin (Joe) Russell. He was a wonderful Grandaddy to eleven grandchildren, three of whom were at Heaven's Gate to meet him, and "G'Daddy" to six great-grandchildren. There are countless counsins, nieces, nephews, and others he embraced as family. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 11 from 5-8 p.m. and services will be on Wednesday, September 12 at 10 a.m., all at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on Germantown Road.
