

William D. Broyles (Bill), loving husband, devoted father, faithful friend, follower of Christ, and patriot, died September 8, 2015. Bill Broyles proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps, retiring a Master Gunnery Sergeant with 22 years of honorable service. He continued public service after his retirement, working first for the City of Millington, then the Shelby County Trustees Office, and finally with Congressman Ed Bryant. He participated for a number of years in the Millington Optimist Club, supported the American Indian Association, Mid-South Life Choices, and served his local church congregation. He loved the Lord and was faithful to the end. He is preceded in death by his siblings, James Miller Broyles, Gene Tillman Broyles, Judith Ann Beard, and Patrick Lee Broyles. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Charlene Boyd Broyles, his daughters, Kathryn Broyles, and Rebecca Ponder, his son-in-law, Larry K. Ponder and his uncle, Hermon Lowery. Visitation to be held Thursday 5-8 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN, with visitation and funeral at Christ’s Community Church, Cookeville, TN Saturday, September 12, from 12 – 2 p.m. Graveside service to follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery.
