When I was 10, and Edward must have been about 7, our families got us ready in the wee hours of the morning for a trip to Nashville to make a family album for The Massengill Family. Edward played the piano, accompanying himself and brother Danny as they sang Jesus is Coming Soon.  There are other memories of us as kids in church with our family of preachers and saints of all types. Edward was a talent and a bright light. 
I know his family will miss him so much, but I know you'll also feel his love for you continue through the years.

We’re really going to miss him. This photo is the cover of the album we made when all us kids were still little. I can still remember Mom and Aunt Mary putting their heads together to figure out what we should all wear that day. The recording day started early, and even though we were young, it felt like such an adventure for us kids—we really bonded over the whole experience.
Over the years, we didn’t see each other as often, but that connection never faded. I was always in awe of Edward’s God-given talent—it touched so many lives. I’ll always treasure the conversations we shared at family reunions.
Rita, I can’t imagine the pain you're feeling right now as you adjust to this new reality. Just know that we love you and have you in our prayers.

Ed was a great guy, I worked with him for many years, he was a great problem solver. I know he will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. RIP my friend.....

So sorry to read of the passing of Edward. Really loved to hear him play piano during church services at TPC. Video his fingers working the keys,  I heard from a number of individuals it was a real  joy to watch him play. He is a great addition to God’s choir. He will be missed. Our condolences to Rita, Harmony, & Melody.

I am so sorry about my childhood friend , Bro. Edward Duke. I saw him often at Center Point Holiness Church where I attended as a small child and his family visited often. He and his brothers were always so well dressed , had every hair in place and sat so well behaved in church. I was in awe at this when comparing them to most little boys who were running circles when given the chance , shirt tail out and hair flying in the wind. They were wonderful children. As an adult , I saw him occasionally and his piano playing was like no other. So thankful he used his talent for God! No doubt he ministered to many souls and truly made a difference in their life. Only eternity will tell. I am so sorry for the loss of Bro. Edward at the young age of 63. May God bless , comfort and strengthen you, Rita, the children , the grandchildren and his parents  and his many friends. We love you all. Your friend, Sis. Donna Alexander

Mark and I will always cherish the memories we have with Edward, Rita, their girls, and our two sons.  We would laugh together for hours.  We would tease each other only to start the laughing again.  We have prayed together, raised our children in the church together,  cried together, rejoiced for many together,  worked in the church together, and grieved together.  One thing we will always cherish about Edward Duke is his constant commitment and faithfulness to whatever he did.  You could depend on him!! No matter the distance between us at any given time, we would pick up where we left off when we saw or spoke on the phone to each other again.  Whether writing one of his masterpieces or playing any given song, the music he made will always bring comfort to our ears.  We will never forget your legacy on this earth. I've been having a hard time finding the words to say how I feel about this special man. I still am. He was such a special part of my life at an age where friends become a part of the actual DNA of your soul. For me, Edward was the brother I never had. I idolized him. I was mesmerized by his musical gifts. My cousin Connie and I sang with Edward and his brothers in a gospel quartet and we spent hours and hours together practicing and hours and hours more going to and singing together. Those times are as precious to me as any in my life. 

When it was time to get married, I got married on June 2nd and he, of course, played at our wedding. He and Rita got married the next evening on June 3rd and I, of course, sang at their's! That's the kind of love we had for each other. 

I saw him the Thursday before he died. I got to make him laugh! We got to say 'I love you' to each other. Connie and I sang for him. Those are memories that I'll never forget.  

I love and miss you Edward. The world is a lot less magical without you in it. 💔🕊️

I remember Preaching at Edwards fathers church in Milledgeville. We had a great time. I was invited to go on a canoeing trip with them. He showed me such a great time and we laughed and had great fellowship. I am praying for the family for peace and comfort that only God can give. I will miss his texts. But will not forget his memory. God bless.

I went to High School with Edward and he was in my graduating class of 1980. Such a person of integrity even at that young age. Just think now he plays the piano for Jesus! Thanks be to God! Praying for this family!
