Winnie was a devout Christian. In her later years, she enjoyed watching the Reverend Charles Stanley preach on Sunday mornings. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her plants. She especially loved to cook for her family. She loved all she held close dearly, and was fiercely protective. Mamaw Winnie was known for her quick wit and sometimes sharp tongue!
The family would like to thank the caretakers from Home Instead, whose kind and gentle services made it possible for her to remain in her cherished home where she resided the last 27 years across the street from her beloved daughter, Carole. It was there she felt most comfortable and where she was most happy .... particularly when family and friends visited. She had many pets - chickens in her younger days and her dogs were her fur babies. There was nothing she loved more than a visit from her adoring son, Walter.
She lived a long, full life and is now reunited with loved ones in Glory, a place she has dreamed and taught her children about her entire earthly life.
She is preceded in death by Her husband, Roy R. Braun, her parents Bolivar & Victoria Scott, her brothers;
Ottis Scott, James Scott, Cebron Scott, Hubert Scott and her sisters; Annie Wooley and Jean Williams.
Winnie is survived by her children, Carole Betts (Fred) and Walter Nichols (Sandra), her granddaughter, Dee Denson Jacobson (Johnny), her great granddaughters, Sara Jordan Jacobson and Sophie Wynne Jacobson, her great grandson, John Hadon Jacobson, her siblings, Robert Scott (Frances), Buford Scott (Dorothy) and Rita Wesson (Paul), Numerous Nieces & Nephews and a special friend, Linda Denson.
The family would like to acknowledge; Georgia Wright, she loved you and you will always hold a special place in our family. Barbara and Suzanne, thank you for the kindness and compassion you showed in her final days.
Due to Covid19, there will be a private family service. It will be available to livestream on the Funeral Homes Facebook site at the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to a charity of your choice in Winnie’s memory.
