

Alura Dawn Pitzer, 81, of Bartonville, Illinois, passed away at 9:54PM, February 15, 2016 at OSF Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. She was born on January 11, 1935 in Peoria, Illinois to John and Stella (Sherin) Beddows.
She is survived by one daughter, Lori Pitzer of Bartonville, Illinois, three sons, Kevin (Karen) Pitzer of Westlake Village, California, Ken (Amy) Pitzer of Cincinnati Ohio and Doug (Christine) Pitzer of Peoria, Illinois. She has four grandchildren, Paige (Mark) Perrson of Thousand Oaks, California, Derek (Stefanie) Pitzer of Peoria, Illinois, Adam (Lisa) Pitzer of Washington, Illinois and Lucas Pitzer of Peoria, Illinois. Also surviving are three great grandchildren, Taylor, Zoey and Jaxon, whom she adored and loved to hear of all their adventures and accomplishments. She has a sister, Cheri (Gary) Fales of Bartonville and many nieces and nephews. Dawn was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Raymond Beddows.
She attended Manual High School graduating in 1953. She retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 2000 with over 30 years of service as a secretary, working most of her career in Mossville. Dawn loved to socialize and had many clubs and organizations that kept her on the go. Whether it was meeting with her classmates from Manual’s class of 1953, playing cards or attending local theater or musicals with her many friends.
Dawn had been active over the years with many of the activities in the community including Boy and Girl Scouts, Limestone Athletic Booster Club, SPLASH and any activity or sport that her children or grandchildren were involved. Along with all of her activities, Dawn was a life-long St. Louis Cardinals fan and was able to attend many of the Card\Cubs games over the years.
The family would like to thank the many nurses, PCTs, volunteers and Doctors who had helped her in her 12 year battle with Stage 4 Cancer. With special thanks going out to the many friends at the Illinois Cancer Center, OSF, Dr. Kugler, Dr. Fishkin and Dr. Janice Takata-Rossi.
Dawn was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Bartonville, Illinois where funeral services will be Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Raymond Barclay will officiate. Visitation will be Friday evening February 26, 2016 from 5 PM until 7 PM at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel and 30 minutes prior to services at the church on Saturday. Cremation rites will follow services and inurnment will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Bartonville at a later date.
