Andrew J. "Andy" Meyers

Andrew J. Meyers, 92, of Bartonville, Illinois passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016 at the Unity Point\Methodist Hospital in Peoria. He was born on August 30, 1923 in Peoria, Illinois to Hamilton and Mamie (Deusch) Meyers. He married Dorothy Bragg on March 18, 1950 in Peoria, Illinois. She survives.

He is also survived by two children, Douglas(Joan) Meyers of Normal, Illinois and Andrea (David) Van Kampen of Naperville, Illinois. He has six grandchildren, Tanner Van Kampen, Stacy Haas, Trevor Van Kampen, Stephanie Meyers, Ryan Meyers and Jillian Van Kampen. He also has seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, LeRoy, Don and Jerry Meyers.

Andrew worked as an electrician at the Hiram Walker Distillery for many years last working in 1980. He later worked in maintenance at the Limestone Community High School. Andrew was a WWII Navy veteran. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Peoria, Mohammed Temple Shrine, a member of the I.B.E.W. for 74 years retiring out of Local #34. He played baseball while in the Navy for several teams and was a minor league ballplayer for the Detroit Tigers. He was a loyal CUB fan and an avid fisherman and hunter.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 27, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel. The Rev. Jack Thompson will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 PM until 4 PM Sunday at the funeral chapel. Entombment will be in the Swan Lake Mausoleum with Military Rites following the service.
