She was born on November 21, 1932 in Wyoming, IL the daughter of A. Delbert and Charlotte (Eckley) Belford. She married Isom "Pep" Zachman on March 17, 1951 at Bartonville Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three sisters and five brothers, one daughter, June (Dan) Moran, son-in-law, Ben Brodt, 2 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory four children, Joy (Gary) Scudder of Peoria, Frank (Lisa) Zachman of Germantown Hills, Jean Brodt of Bartonville, and Steve Zachman of Hanna City; ten grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law Darlene Zachman; her best friend Linda Irving, and several nieces and nephews.
Barb held various jobs in her lifetime. A few of her favorite jobs were making donuts at Oakford's, being a teller at Bartonville Bank and working summers with her granddaughter for Whitledge Flowers in the Bartonville Hardware Store parking lot. Barb was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 979 Women's Auxiliary. She was proud to have served on the Bartonville Bicentennial Committee in 1976.
Barb's greatest enjoyment was helping her family. Whether it be sewing dresses, curtains, costumes, or hemming pants, she always had her needle and thread ready. She loved to paint and we are sure if there are walls in Heaven our mother already has a paint brush in her hand.
The family would like to thank Michelle and Angie from OSF Hospice and the staff of Pekin Manor for the loving care given to our mother. We will be forever grateful for your love and support.
A visitation will be on Monday, February 23, 2026 from 10 to 11 am with a private family service at 11 am at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Burial to follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
Memorials may be given in memory of Barb’s great-great granddaughter, Beckette June Marie Scudder, to help ease the financial burden of medical and funeral costs of the sudden loss of their 8 week old daughter (checks made out to Joy Scudder) or a charity of your choice. Words of comfort can be shared with the family at www.Davison-Fulton-Bartonvillechapel.com.
