Betty Jane Jones

She was born in Bartonville, on January 5, 1925, the daughter of John Walter & Lucille E. Tankersley Salter. She married Melvin Paul Jones in Peoria on June 15, 1946. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2000.

Betty is survived by her three sons, Michael (Annette) of Marshfield, MO, Toby of Pekin, and Kim of Wilmington;one sister, Juanita (James) Mahoney of Hilton Head, SC; one sister-in-law, Wanda Salter of Buffalo, MO; ten grandchidren, Michael (Chris) , Anthony, Christine, Jody , and Amanda( Joey) Borovicka, Abigail( Brent) Ramsey, Mackenzie(Cory) Scholl, Kristy, Jaso( Michelle) Edmonds, and Luke Allison;eleven great-grandchildren, Dakota, Bailey, Michael, Stephen and Kimberly Jones, Colin and Blake Keele, and Gavin, Aidan, Olivia, and Gaberiel Edmonds.

She was alsoprecededin death by her parents, one sister Margaret Sawhill, and two brothers, John and Donald Salter.

Betty was a nurse at Peoria State Hospital for over thirty years. After the hospital closed she worked another fourteen years at Zeller State Hospital in Peoria, retiring in 1987.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bartonville.

Graveside Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at St. John LutheranCemetery in Bartonville.
