

Bonnie J. Yeley, 90, of Bartonville, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026, at her home, surrounded by a loving family. Born near Cave-In-Rock, IL, on October 21, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Troy and Georgia (Hall) Bayne. She married Archie L. “Doc” Yeley on March 17, 1955, In Peoria. He preceded her in death on July 31, 2023; also preceding her in death is a brother, Don Bayne; and a sister, Betty Shonkweiler.
Bonnie graduated from Cave-In-Rock High School and Southern Illinois University. She came to Peoria to teach at Hollis Grade School. She went on to teach and retired from Peoria District 150 where she was a member of the NEA, IEA, and Peoria Federation of Teachers. She spent 20+ years at Garfield Grade School on Peoria’s south side.
She stayed in touch with her childhood home and nearby family with her annual trip to Cave-In-Rock in May. She enjoyed reading the Hardin County Independent newspaper from cover to cover every week along with the Limestone Independent News.
Bonnie loved to walk and could often be found walking around Bartonville and especially the Industrial Park not far from her home.
One of her favorite past times was garage sales, going to them and having them. Bonnie loved to cook big holiday meals and loved Eyran’s dogs, Gus and Ace.
At her request, cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no visitation or service at this time. A private family graveside service for both Doc and Bonnie will be held at St John’s Cemetery in Bartonville.
