

Cheryl Jean Witt, 78, of East Peoria, formerly of Morton, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Carle Health - Methodist Hospital in Peoria. She was born on April 8, 1946 in Fulton County, a daughter of Clyde and Norma Jean (Wright) Powell. Cheryl married John Albert Singleton on November 25, 1964 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on August 12, 1985 in Peoria County. She later married James Witt on November 18, 1988 in Augusta, Georgia. He preceded her in death on August 6, 1999 in Augusta, Georgia.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Alice Kay in October 1949.
Cheryl is survived by two sons, John (Lori) Singleton of West Peoria, Illinois and Dean (Michelle) Singleton of Canton, Illinois; three grandsons, Josh (Callie) Singleton, Tyler Singleton and Riley Singleton; one great-granddaughter, Amelia Singleton; one sister and two brothers, Phyllis (Gordon) Friend of East Peoria, Illinois, Joe (Cheryl) Powell of Punta Gorda, Florida and Rick Powell of Lacon, Illinois.
She received her Associates Degree in Nursing from Spoon River College.
Cheryl retired from CEFCU where she worked in the out of state title department. She previously worked as an LPN for years at several local nursing homes.
Cheryl loved listening to music, especially Toby Keith. She loved going on vacations and had an amazing collection of bells from all the places she'd traveled to. One of her favorite pastimes was watching history shows or war movies while snuggling her sweet cat, Asha. She'd recently become a resident at Accolade and enjoyed playing bingo with fellow residents, getting her nails done, art and cooking activities they provided, and all the friendships she made.
Cheryl's celebration of life gathering will be from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Friday, January 10, 2024 at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Her celebration of life service will be at 5:00 pm also on Friday at the funeral chapel. Pastor Soebeck Song will officiate. Inurnment will be at Green Bush Cemetery at a later date.
