

He was born March 16, 1940 in Hanna City to Everett and Eleanor (Janssen) Largent. He married Patricia Freerking on Sept. 8, 1962 in Edwards. She passed away March 23, 2021 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Paul.
Survivors include one son, Kevin Largent of Hanna City, two grandsons: Jarod and Casey Largent both of Hanna City, and several nieces and nephews.
He was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.
Don owned and operated Largent Barber Shop in Peoria and later became a Peoria Fire Fighter. He was a fireman for 26 years retiring Jan. 30, 1994. He was a member of the City of Peoria Retirees Club and the Fire Fighters Retiree Club.
Don also was a member of the Hanna City American Legion, Elmwood VFW, the Hanna City Sportsman Club, Farmington Sportsman Club, Glasford Masonic Lodge, and the Farmington Moose Club.
Don was quick with a joke and loved talking to people. He was proud of his grandsons, spending time with them whenever possible. His favorite pastime was scooping the loop to observe what was happening in Hanna City and beyond.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service for Don will be Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022 at 3 P.M. at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.
Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Illinois Cancer Center on Rt. 91 in Peoria.
