Gary J. "Mick" Hess

Gary was born on October 8, 1941 in Ansted, West Virginia to Walter and Nina (Cole) Hess.

Gary is survived by his children, Lisa Hess-Johnson of Evansville, IN, Angela (Todd) Miros of Tucson, AZ, Scott Hess of Morton, IL and Stephen Hess of Peoria, IL; eight grandchildren, Brittani, Coby, Alex, Rylee, Mason, Madison, Jaylee and Olivia; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sonja (Jearel) Crowder of Riply, WV and Karen Stotts of Columbia, SC; one half-sister, Jeradine “Mutt” Bartram of Martin, KY; and his significant others, Peggy Davis of Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father, Jim Kearny.

Gary served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He then worked as a Chemist for Caterpillar, retiring in 2001. Gary was a member of the Eagle’s Club, the American Legion and the VFW. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He loved working on automobiles and his son’s motorcycles.

A visitation will be on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 from 5pm to 7pm at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel, 1203 W. Garfield Ave. in Bartonville. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation. Memorials may be made to St. Jude or to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
